Shoot Festival

A diverse new festival which platforms the best of Coventry and Warwickshire's up and coming talent

GLOW (Gloria Lowe's) - Artist Testimonial

GLORIA FROM GLOW (A COMPANY WHO BLEND TRADITIONAL STORY-TELLING WITH DIGITAL MEDIA) TELLS US WHY YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT APPLYING TO SHOOT FESTIVAL THIS YEAR...

Are you considering applying to Shoot Festival? If you are, we can say, without hesitation - do it!

It has been almost three years since we performed at Shoot Festival, but the support, advice and friendship of the Shoot Festival team is ongoing.

Shoot Festival is a platform for emerging artists in Coventry and Warwickshire to share what they do, perform, and even challenge themselves, in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Shoot provided us with a unique opportunity to both perform our own work and be inspired by the diverse array of work being produced by others living in the Coventry area. And with opportunities like this one, what a fantastic and vibrant place Coventry is to be right now for an emerging artist.

After the feedback we received from our Story Stew performance we had the confidence we needed to really launch Glow as an organisation. And, since performing at Shoot Festival, we have not stopped!

With the children that have attended Glow workshops, the after-school clubs, holiday clubs and classes, we have created stop motion animations, performed new plays and with the help of artist-duo DazeRay created the single biggest artwork that we have made to date, for arts and heritage project 'We HeART Foleshill' at Edgewick Community Primary School. Glow have also had the pleasure of being part of The Big Draw in Lichfield for two years running. This year we were delivering some brilliant STEM-inspired workshops in Lichfield city centre. The Glow team has now expanded to 7 fantastic practitioners who work across Coventry and the West Midlands to build the confidence and unlock the creativity of all the children we work with. 2017 promises to be another exciting year for us! Not only do we continue to grow as an organisation and to build vital relationships with schools and the local community, sharing the joy of art together, we have also been given another opportunity by Shoot Festival to develop as artists and perform our work.

For Shoot's Triple Bill on March 17th at Belgrade Theatre, we will be using a fusion of digital and traditional oral-storytelling to share the true story of a couple based in Birmingham during the First World War. Another wonderful chance to expand our work to a wider audience, develop our practice as artists and share an important story in a fantastic space, supported of course by a dedicated, highly skilled and encouraging team.
