SHAKESPEARE ON THE STREETS
Moving through the streets of Coventry, we hear the Bard’s words erupt from unexpected places.

The Chrysalis Collective take you on a small tour of Coventry presenting; ‘Shakespeare on the Streets’, a re-imagining of Shakespearean texts in the realms of modern Coventry with the inclusion of live music.

From young love at a school bus stop, to the inspiring call to arms to save the Green Belt, to a sonnet to an award-winning marrow, Shakespeare’s words are shown to be both relatable and poignant for urban life in Coventry. Chrysalis invites you to explore what classic texts mean today and why Shakespeare’s stories remain accessible and poignant for all audiences.

CHRYSALIS COLLECTIVE
The Chrysalis Collective was founded in June 2013 by Graduates Lucinda Lee and Christa Harris who make bold and immersive theatre which places classical texts within new contexts in order to highlight contemporary societal issues.

By viewing classics in a different light, Chrysalis aim to excite, challenge and subvert audience expectations, so they can view history as a circular, repetitive narrative – and one which we must learn from to correct mistakes in the past. Their debut production of ‘Twelfth Night’ (May 2014) was part of the RSC Open Stages scheme 2013-2016 and Shoot Festival brings to Coventry Chrysalis’ newest project Shakespeare On The Stre
