Melodious alt-pop via unorthodox collaborations and a playful, patchwork writing style.
Working via unorthodox collaborations, Bar Pandora’s purpose is to make music with gut and gusto, to follow the feels, and to be creative for the sheer fun of it.
Musically, Bar Pandora’s melodious alt-pop is playfully sewn together from the offcuts of personal experience - field recordings, journal entries and improvised fragments which bop along to a rich undercurrent of harmonic synths, guitars and dynamic beats.
The lyrics are penned with mischievous frankness, delivering confessional composites of personal histories, inner monologues and self-building proclamations which are simultaneously singular and familiar.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Bar Pandora owe their name to a literary cafe in Madrid, where in 2017 Charlie Tophill hung out with her friends talking literature, life and feminism. Retrospectively inspired, Charlie created Bar Pandora in 2021 as a musical project seeking to redress the balance of a life shadowed by self-imposed limitation and baseless inhibition. Later that year, Charlie received funding from Arts Council England to collaborate with Jungle producer Simply Dread on an entirely new body of work.
